A leading solar energy company is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team in Johannesburg, South Africa. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional passionate about renewable energy and skilled in overseeing solar installation projects for residential, commercial, and agricultural sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical input during the development of solar installation projects.
- Assist with accurate quoting based on site specifications and technical requirements.
- Ensure stock, equipment, and materials are prepared before project commencement.
- Oversee procurement and maintain precise stock records for ongoing projects.
- Manage installation processes to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with clients and subcontractors to meet all project specifications.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain updated site safety files.
- Implement quality control measures and conduct post-installation inspections.
- Serve as the primary client contact, handling escalations and resolving complaints.
- Manage project budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Oversee the technical support team to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Lead internal and external installation teams, including performance evaluation and work allocation.
- Conduct performance reviews and address employee disputes in collaboration with HR.
- Develop and deliver training programs for installation teams.
- Stay updated on the latest solar technologies and industry trends.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in operations management, preferably in solar, renewable energy, or electrical contracting.
- Proven track record in managing residential, commercial, and agricultural solar projects.
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems and electrical installations.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet).
- Experience with inventory management systems.
- Leadership skills in team management and personnel oversight.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and financial skills.
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
- Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
