Job Summary
Performing financial crime operational procedures for High Risk and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) customers, including customer due diligence, screening, onboarding, ongoing reviews, and exits in compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Customer Due Diligence (CDD) standards and Absa AML policies.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities
Service Delivery

  • Apply AML CDD standards, Anti-Money Laundering Life Cycle Standards (CLS), PEP standards, and Absa policies to daily operations.
  • Develop deep expertise in AML CDD standards and Financial Crime Operations processes.
  • Prioritize key regulations and risks, working efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain high-quality work by staying updated on financial crime regulatory changes through training and research.
  • Meet productivity and quality targets.
  • Share best practices to guide team members and peers.

Control and Compliance

  • Complete all mandatory training within deadlines.
  • Identify, track, and manage key risks per the Risk Framework.
  • Escalate, investigate, and resolve risk events or control failures to prevent recurrence.

Reporting

  • Track and manage daily, weekly, and monthly performance targets.
  • Prepare monthly Performance Development (PD) plans to monitor progress and identify development needs.

Self-Development

  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Initiate quarterly training for personal and professional growth.

Role / Person Specification

Education and Experience Required

  • Matric qualification.
  • Minimum 12 months of experience in AML compliance, High Risk, and PEP Customer Due Diligence/Financial Crime processes.
  • BComm (Assurance) or LLB (Advantage).

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Absa systems.
  • Proficiency in Absa’s Electronic Sales Platform (ESP).
  • Familiarity with the Global Online PEP Register (GOR).
  • Experience in High Risk and PEP customer enhanced due diligence.
  • Sound understanding of AML CDD, PEP standards, and FICA regulatory requirements.
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Education
