Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
The South African DC team is responsible for optimizing Distribution Center (DC) and outbound partner performance. This role focuses on forecasting, planning, driving operational fulfillment, and analyzing DC performance through key KPIs. The DC Operations Specialist ensures seamless coordination between stakeholders, maintains transparency in workflows, and leads initiatives like store openings and campaign execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage eCommerce operations through coordination with 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) providers, including warehousing and outbound partners.
- Oversee eCommerce Supply Chain performance, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Forecast and plan B2C inbound, outbound, and returns, translating business needs into actionable execution plans.
- Collaborate with 3PLs to optimize warehouse capacity for outbound and returns operations.
- Monitor inventory accuracy, losses, and compliance with SLAs and KPIs.
- Lead planning and execution for campaigns and seasonal events, such as Cyber Week and Holiday Readiness.
- Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities within logistics operations.
- Track order flow, handle fulfillment issues, and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
- Manage operational reports and dashboards, ensuring SLA adherence and performance visibility.
- Drive cross-functional projects, ensuring on-time launches and seamless execution.
Key Relationships:
- 3PL providers (Warehousing, Transport, Last Mile, Customs).
- Local authorities (Municipality, Customs, Port/Free Zone).
- Supply Chain Management – South Africa.
- Sales, Marketing, ECOM, Customer Service, Finance, IT, Legal, and Global Non-Trade Procurement teams.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Expertise in last-mile delivery, reverse logistics, eCommerce, warehousing, and international freight.
- Experience in transformation projects (DTC, Supply Chain, eCommerce).
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Change management and innovation mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Proactive team player with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, WMS, and data-driven decision-making.
Education & Experience:
- Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Preferred: Master’s or certification in Supply Chain/Project Management.
- 2–3 years in eCommerce, logistics, retail operations, or project management.
- Advanced Microsoft Office/ERP (SAP) skills.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
