Sasol careers – Despatch Controller
Sasol, a global integrated chemicals and energy company with a 70-year legacy, is seeking a Despatch Controller to join the Energy Marketing & Sales division in Pretoria. This role plays a critical function in executing the company’s fuel distribution strategy by ensuring safe, accurate, and timely deliveries in compliance with all legal, safety, and environmental standards.
The Despatch Controller is responsible for managing delivery operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations, and driving continuous improvement in safety, cost-efficiency, and service delivery. This includes managing driver performance, mitigating operational risks, and maintaining alignment with SHEQ standards and Sasol’s risk management framework.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee timely and compliant fuel deliveries using Sasol and contractor fleets

Monitor and control operational costs, including driver overtime, PPE usage, and travel expenses

Maintain communication with the Logistics Command Centre and ensure accurate shipment documentation

Enforce adherence to ISO, OHSAS, responsible care, and SHEQ requirements, including audits and incident reporting

Support development plans for team members, manage absenteeism, and implement disciplinary actions where necessary

Identify and mitigate operational risks including theft, system failures, product shortages, and labour disruptions

Ensure customer documentation is submitted accurately and on time; investigate and resolve deviations

Assist with implementing contingency plans during strikes or fuel supply interruptions

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective logistics and compliance controls

Drive initiatives to improve delivery accuracy, customer satisfaction, and cost-efficiency

Continuously develop personal skills and complete an individual development plan aligned to performance goals
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in logistics, fuel distribution, or dispatch operations
