We are offering an exciting opportunity to join one of South Africa’s largest supermarket chains as a Trainee Manager Stores. This role provides hands-on experience across multiple departments, giving you the insight and skills needed to progress toward a store management career.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (attach certified copy to application)
- 2–3 years’ retail experience advantageous
- 1–3 years’ departmental manager experience advantageous
- Successful completion of at least 2 competency-based interviews
- Flexibility to be transferred between stores
- Willingness to undergo a full credit and criminal check
- Valid South African ID (attach copy)
- Valid Driver’s Licence (attach certified copy)
- Residence in the Western Cape

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Standards & Compliance
- Maintain hygiene, housekeeping, and safe working standards on the sales floor and in back-up areas
- Ensure adherence to security procedures
- Enforce merchandise and display standards
- Conduct regular quality checks and manage stock rotation
- Remove damaged or expired stock to minimise wastage and shrinkage
- Verify pricing accuracy, including labels
Administration & Planning
- Complete all administration accurately and on time
- Analyse, maintain, and update relevant information and documentation, taking required action as needed
- Plan and implement sales promotions
- Monitor departmental budgets and take corrective action where necessary
Customer Service & Stock Management
- Approach and advise customers on products, listening to requests and providing required solutions
- Optimise stock levels to ensure availability without overstocking
- Analyse departmental profitability and make recommendations or take action
People Management
- Lead and manage employees to ensure standards are maintained
- Develop a motivated and competent team capable of delivering excellent service
