Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure all production activities align with the production plan.
  • Schedule work assignments, set priorities, and direct the activities of production team members.
  • Drive innovation to achieve KPIs related to quality, productivity, and efficiency, proposing improvement initiatives.
  • Solve operational issues arising in individual production sections.
  • Evaluate employee performance through completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Set business and development objectives for subordinates, support their achievement, and conduct formal performance reviews twice per year.
  • Identify staff training needs and communicate them to management or HR.
  • Maintain proper labor relations and employment conditions.
  • Prepare reports, maintain records, and manage correspondence related to production activities.
  • Supervise production quality and collaborate with the Quality & Environment Department.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, internal food safety, and personnel safety procedures, training employees as needed.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and repairs, coordinating with the maintenance manager to ensure availability of staff.
  • Ensure shift teams are trained, follow personnel guidelines, and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Support backup training for key production positions.
  • Participate in new product development activities and line improvements.
  • Maintain daily communication with other supervisors for evaluation and review of production systems, including Quality, Food Safety, Maintenance, and Health & Safety.
  • Actively contribute to daily shift meetings and commit to agreed deadlines.
  • Record and manage production data using SAP backflush reports.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate.
  • Tertiary qualification preferred in Process and Production Technology.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in production environments, including process technology, production planning, or coordination.
  • Experience managing people with strong team collaboration skills.
  • Flexibility to rotate shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage change effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP.
  • Certified in all applicable job aspects.
  • Skilled in facilitating training, coaching, and evaluating on-the-job performance.
  • Ability to influence, develop, and train others effectively.
  • Strong understanding of KPI scorecards and shift agenda management.
  • Excellent communication skills with Plant and Supply Chain peers to ensure alignment with current and future production requirements.
