Job Description
The Store Manager is responsible for protecting and growing profitable market share within the store by executing the Store, Division, and Company strategy. The role ensures operational excellence, strong financial performance, exceptional customer service, and full compliance with company standards and legislation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 with a minimum of 3 years related retail management experience, or 5 years related retail management experience

  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure

  • Basic computer literacy

  • Proven leadership and people management skills

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Valid driver’s licence and own transport preferred

  • Own cell phone

  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety requirements in line with local OHSA and/or neighbouring countries’ legislation

  • Strong Human Resources Management capability

  • High attention to detail

Key Performance Areas

Strategic Management

  • Develop, implement, and manage a store strategic plan aligned to divisional strategy and key initiatives

  • Drive execution of business plans and ensure alignment with company objectives

Grow and Protect Market Share

  • Grow transactions, sales, and market share in line with approved budgets

  • Achieve and exceed sales targets and growth objectives

  • Manage and promote customer loyalty programmes and third-party credit offerings

  • Develop and implement action plans to defend market share in competitive environments

  • Ensure store business plans are implemented and updated as required

Customer Service

  • Implement and monitor the customer service strategy within the store

  • Ensure an effective delivery service is maintained in line with company policy

  • Grow and retain VIC and charge card customer bases

  • Recommend product range improvements aligned to local market needs

Asset Control

  • Manage and control shrinkage in line with company policy

  • Protect all store assets including cash, stock, and fixed assets

  • Manage debtors within the store

  • Analyse store security requirements and recommend improvements

  • Ensure physical security measures are implemented and maintained

Business Trade Licences

  • Ensure all required trade licences are valid and renewed timeously where applicable

Human Resource Management

  • Manage staffing requirements in line with company and divisional strategies

  • Implement succession planning and career pathing within the store

  • Maintain open communication with employees and the Store Employee Forum

  • Ensure training and development initiatives are in place

  • Manage employee relations effectively and fairly

Maintaining Store Standards

  • Conduct daily floor walks to ensure operational excellence

  • Implement and monitor agreed action plans and performance improvement initiatives

  • Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures

  • Maintain high housekeeping and merchandising standards

  • Ensure stores are ready for business at all times

  • Ensure lighting, racking, and store infrastructure are maintained in good condition

Stock Management

  • Ensure stock is ordered, received, and managed in line with company policy

  • Manage damaged, obsolete, slow-moving, and excess stock according to procedures

Store Safety (OHSA) Standards

  • Manage safety in line with OHSA and relevant legislation

  • Ensure all safety checklists are completed and maintained

  • Appoint and support OHSA representatives as required

  • Investigate, report, and manage all safety incidents

Expense Management

  • Manage store expenses in line with the financial model, benchmarks, and approved budgets

Insurance Claims Administration

  • Report all incidents to the relevant insurer

  • Liaise with insurers regarding claim details and validity

  • Submit all required documentation accurately and timeously

Management of the CB Way

  • Implement and maintain controls, disciplines, and standards in line with the CB Way
