Job Description
Operate and maintain the forklift safely and efficiently while providing excellent customer service in the store. Responsibilities include merchandising stock, shelf price labelling, and maintaining a clean and safe working area within your designated responsibility.

Requirements

• Grade 12 or minimum of 1 year relevant work experience
• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to work under pressure
• Physically fit to operate a forklift
• Valid forklift license

Key Performance Areas

Customer Service

• Greet all customers and assess their needs
• Advise customers accurately on products
• Assist with product queries and complaints promptly
• Recommend additional products and services (e.g., paint accessories, delivery service, credit programmes, special orders)
• Ensure efficient and careful loading of customer purchases
• Maintain product knowledge and presence in your aisle of responsibility

Merchandising Standards

• Merchandising bulk stock safely according to store layout and planograms
• Keep your area fully merchandised and aligned with approved layouts

Housekeeping

• Maintain a clean, safe, and obstacle-free area
• Ensure prompt shelving of received stock
• Correct shelf price labelling
• Complete required checklists for canteen, toilets, and showers

Ready for Business

• Adhere to “Ready for Business” and “Beyond My Control” standards as per the CB Way

Loss Prevention and Security

• Identify display gaps, investigate, and report concerns
• Report suspicious behaviour or persons to management
• No product may be loaded without proof of purchase or required documentation

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

• Do not overload the forklift or racking
• Wear safety helmet and kidney belt while operating the forklift
• Do not lift personnel with the forklift
• Keep store entrances and exits clear and safe for customers
• Report forklift faults immediately and schedule services on time
• Wear protective clothing when required
• Inspect forklift daily and complete checklists
