Clinic Nurse Practitioner

Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified Clinic Nurse Practitioner to join their team in Hermanus. The primary purpose of this role is to manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within the pharmacy, ensuring services are delivered safely and professionally within the scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
• Degree or Diploma in Midwifery
• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• BHF registration required for Nursing Practitioners
• 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Advantageous:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
• Experience with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Clinic Nurse Practitioner duties in line with industry regulations and best practices
• Manage patient flow and set clinic objectives to optimize service delivery
• Ensure all clinic services are available and operational
• Maintain accurate patient records and follow up on communications
• Keep the clinic open and fully operational during stated hours
• Process patient claims accurately and within required timelines
• Ensure all clinic stock and equipment are functional and sufficient
• Build and maintain professional relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and community healthcare stakeholders

Competencies

Essential:

• Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care
• Participation in quarterly CPD and in-service training with Dis-Chem
• Strong command of English (written and oral)
• Understanding of financial implications of meeting or missing monthly targets
• Analytical skills to interpret clinic statistics and commission
• Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, honesty, and trustworthiness
• Ability to manage self and a team effectively
• Strong time management skills

Advantageous:

• Bilingual
• Knowledge of business objectives
• Certifications in Baby Immunisation (DoH/Sanofi Pasteur), Family Planning (DoH), Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management

Special Conditions of Employment
