Senior Manager – Network and Transmission Operations, MTN Careers
Mission
The Senior Manager – Network and Transmission Operations drives the development, implementation, and optimization of MTN’s network managed services operational model. This role ensures standardized processes, governance, and performance excellence across all OPCOs, aligning operations with business goals, technology evolution, and industry best practices. The role also champions network quality, operational efficiency, vendor management, and transformation initiatives to enhance service delivery and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance the operational model for network and transmission services across MTN OPCOs, ensuring alignment with changing business and technology requirements.
- Engage with stakeholders to define, standardize, and monitor network managed services procedures, processes, and governance frameworks.
- Monitor network performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and implement improvement initiatives or corrective actions as required.
- Define KPIs for Managed Services, manage vendor performance, and provide regular reporting on compliance and operational outcomes.
- Support the transition and handover of new improvement programs for in-house and existing Managed Services, ensuring performance is tracked against defined standards.
- Oversee audits, controls, and performance monitoring procedures for network operations and ensure consistent application across OPCOs.
- Facilitate critical issue resolution, serving as the key escalation point for network operations challenges and initiatives.
- Design and implement communication and training strategies to strengthen network operations and knowledge transfer.
- Identify operational gaps impacting network performance, develop improvement plans, and track progress against objectives.
- Provide on-site support when required to enhance network performance, improve vendor service delivery, and strengthen governance practices.
Key Deliverables
- Adherence to Service Level Agreements.
- Improved network Net Promoter Score (NPS) and overall network quality.
- Execution of Managed Service transformations and process improvements.
- Operational cost analysis and optimization reporting.
Role Dependencies
- Collaboration with GM Managed Operations, OPCO CTOs, and IT Operations & Process Specialists.
- Alignment with MTN business strategy and regional technology requirements.
- Awareness and implementation of new operational tools and features.
- Timely decision-making and reporting to support operational excellence.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- MBA or Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Fluent in English; additional local languages are a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Network Operations, preferably in a Managed Services environment.
- Proven track record of 5+ years in managerial roles.
- Experience across diverse cultures and geographies preferred.
- Exposure to medium to large organizational structures.
