Goods Receiving Supervisor

About the Role
The Goods Receiving Supervisor (GRS) is responsible for overseeing the receipt, return, and distribution of stock from Suppliers and other Stores. This role ensures accurate updating of goods receiving vouchers in the system, proper stock labelling, and timely distribution to the sales floor for merchandising.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Receiving / Inter-Branch Transfers (IBT)

  • Receive stock from Suppliers and other Stores, verify items against invoices, delivery notes, and purchase orders.
  • Ensure a second designated Cashbuild employee is present during all receiving and dispatching activities.
  • Complete proof of delivery documentation and obtain necessary stamps from Suppliers.
  • Capture all stock transactions accurately on the IT system within prescribed timeframes.
  • Address discrepancies by ensuring invoices are amended, endorsed, and signed by the Supplier’s representative.
  • Process all IBTs in and out within set periods, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.

Stock Distribution

  • Ensure stock received is cleared from the GRS office and merchandised within set timelines.

Stock Labelling and Pricing

  • Label all stock missing SKUs and verify correctness of pre-labelled items.
  • Adhere strictly to Cashbuild pricing policies.
  • Implement pending price changes promptly according to the Cashbuild Way.

Supplier Claims and Corrections

  • Validate supplier claims with supporting documentation and obtain Store Manager authorization.
  • Ensure all corrections have the required documentation and approval.
  • Supplier claims must only be raised if stock is ready for immediate collection.

Security Awareness

  • Maintain control of the receiving gate at all times.
  • Keep receiving stamps and purchase order books secure in lockable storage.
  • Ensure GRS office doors are locked when unattended.
  • Monitor supplier truck crews to prevent loitering around the Store.

Ready for Business

  • Keep the GRS office clean and organized.
  • Clear excess or damaged stock promptly, except items pending return to Suppliers.
  • Follow all Ready for Business and operational processes.

Customer Service

  • Comply with Cashbuild dress code and display name badges at all times.
  • Assist Suppliers and provide exceptional service to any Customer interactions in the GRS area.

Safety and OHSA Compliance

  • Restrict access to first aid supplies to authorized personnel.
  • Ensure OHSA safety standards are maintained within the GRS area.
  • Report safety concerns to the Store Manager promptly.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 plus 1 year relevant experience, or minimum 2 years related experience.
  • Strong English communication skills; knowledge of the local dominant language preferred.
  • Above-average numeric skills and computer literacy.
  • Proven ability to provide exceptional Customer service and work under pressure.
  • Availability to work shifts and weekends.
