Job Overview
Cashbuild Vacancies is looking for a hardworking and customer-focused General Assistant to support daily store operations. This role is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining merchandising standards, ensuring accurate shelf pricing, and upholding housekeeping and safety standards within the assigned area of responsibility.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with 1 year related work experience, or Grade 12 without experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language
- Valid South African ID or work permit
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to perform well under pressure
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service
- Assist and advise customers on appropriate products and store-related queries
- Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally
- Maintain a welcoming and helpful shopping environment
Merchandising Standards
- Merchandise bulk stock safely according to the approved store layout plan
- Ensure your designated area is fully stocked and aligned with planograms
- Replenish and organize stock immediately after receiving deliveries
Housekeeping
- Keep your area clean, organized, and free of obstacles
- Ensure customers can move safely and comfortably within your section
- Maintain correct and visible shelf price labelling
- Complete required checklists, including canteen and restroom schedules, when on duty
Safety (OHSA) Compliance
- Adhere to safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment
- Ensure racking and bulk stock are merchandised safely for customers and colleagues
- Report any safety hazards or discrepancies to the Store Manager
Stock Loss Control
- Identify and report damaged stock within your area of responsibility
- Support initiatives aimed at minimizing stock loss
