This is where global fashion trends are analysed and transformed into commercially successful ranges, informed by leading trend institutes, international fashion fairs, and insights from major fashion capitals in the USA, UK, and Europe.
Job Description
The Fashion Designer plays a key role in translating global trends into relevant, on-brand collections. You will research colours, fabrics, silhouettes, and trims to create trend-led yet commercially viable ranges that resonate with customers and support each Truworths brand’s seasonal direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and interpret global fashion trends to inform seasonal design direction
- Identify key colours, fabrics, styles, and trims for upcoming collections
- Translate trend insights into clear, actionable design concepts for each brand
- Collaborate with Buyers, Planners, and Merchandise leadership to develop cohesive ranges
- Inspire and energise cross-functional teams with trend presentations and design direction
- Contribute to the development of limited-quantity ranges to maintain exclusivity
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years’ design experience within fashion retail or a creative manufacturing environment
- Alternatively, proven experience across both fashion buying and design with the ability to move seamlessly between creative and commercial roles
Competencies
- Strong design skills with hands-on experience in InDesign, Photoshop, and CAD
- Excellent product sensibility with a strong commercial fashion eye
- Confident communicator who can influence and inspire cross-functional teams
- Highly creative with the ability to translate trends into wearable, market-relevant products
