Senior Commercial Underwriter – Join Hire Resolve’s Esteemed Client
A leading insurance company is looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Underwriter to join their team. The ideal candidate will assess and manage complex commercial risks, ensure compliance with underwriting standards, and foster strong broker relationships to drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite new and existing commercial insurance policies within approved authority levels.
- Apply and manage binder agreements in line with regulatory requirements.
- Assess risk profiles, claims history, and loss ratios to determine premiums, terms, and coverage.
- Prepare and present quotes, renewal terms, and alternative solutions to brokers.
- Monitor portfolio performance to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.
- Strengthen broker relationships through efficient service and professional engagement.
- Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, legal regulations, and industry best practices.
- Utilize Cardinal 360 for policy processing, administration, and portfolio tracking.
- Identify cross-selling and business development opportunities.
- Contribute to process improvements and underwriting excellence initiatives.
Requirements
- RE5 certification (Essential).
- NQF Level 5 in Short-Term Insurance (Essential).
- Minimum 5 years of commercial underwriting experience, including large and complex risks.
- Binder experience (Essential).
- Proficiency in Cardinal 360 (Essential).
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance products and policy language.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain broker relationships.
