Overview:
Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified Clinic Practitioner to lead and manage a Primary Health Care Clinic within their pharmacy in Benmore. The role involves delivering excellent patient care while overseeing all clinic operations under the scope of a registered nursing practitioner.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
- Degree or Diploma in Midwifery
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- BHF registration for Nursing Practitioners
- 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Advantageous:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Primary Health Care
- Familiarity with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all clinic duties according to industry regulations and best practices
- Manage patient flow and set clinic objectives to enhance service efficiency
- Ensure all clinic services are available and fully operational
- Maintain accurate patient records and follow up on communications
- Keep the clinic open and operational during set hours
- Process claims accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensure all stock and equipment are functional and adequately stocked
- Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, store and dispensary managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and community healthcare stakeholders
Competencies:
Essential:
- Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, and occupational health nursing
- Expertise in family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care
- Participation in quarterly CPD and in-service training with Dis-Chem
- Strong command of English (written and verbal)
- Understanding of financial implications of meeting or not meeting monthly targets
- Analytical skills to interpret clinic statistics and commission
- Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial mindset, integrity, and reliability
- Ability to manage self and clinic team effectively
- Excellent time management skills
Advantageous:
- Bilingual communication skills
- Understanding of business objectives
- Completion of courses in Baby Immunisation, Family Planning, Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management
