Job Overview
Cashbuild Vacancies is looking for a responsible and customer-focused Cashier (External) to ensure the accurate processing of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining customer satisfaction by ensuring that all goods are correctly processed and fully paid for before leaving the store.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or at least 1 year of relevant work experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language
- Strong numerical ability and accuracy in basic calculations
- Good administrative skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Key Performance Areas
Cash Handling
- Ensure all allocated cash, including floats and petty cash, balances at all times
- Accurately identify and capture goods on the POS system
- Capture the correct payment method received from customers
- Maintain sufficient change throughout the shift
- Conduct pick-ups accurately and within company guidelines
- Complete accurate cash-ups at the end of each shift
- Ensure daily takings are securely deposited into the drop safe or vault
- Process transactions related to other stores, deliveries, and quotations correctly
- Ensure that no goods pass through the POS without being paid for
Administration
- Sign, compile, and file all documentation related to cashier duties
- Maintain organized and accurate transaction records
Ready for Business
- Adhere to Ready for Business standards and company operational procedures
Customer Service
- Deliver fast, friendly, and efficient service to all customers
- Direct customers to the appropriate staff member for further assistance when required
- Maintain a professional appearance in line with the company dress code
Safety (OHSA) Compliance
- Promote customer and staff safety within your area of responsibility
- Report any safety concerns or discrepancies to the Store Manager
Security Awareness
- Maintain strict password control and system security at the till point
- Ensure proper safekeeping and secure transportation of cash to the cash office in line with company procedures
