Cashier (External Applications)
About the Role
The Cashier is responsible for accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and documentation, ensuring that all goods are properly paid for and Customer satisfaction is maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Handling
- Accurately manage all cash, including floats and petty cash, ensuring no shortages or overs.
- Correctly identify and capture goods on the POS terminal.
- Record the correct payment type received from Customers.
- Maintain sufficient change at all times.
- Conduct Pick-ups and Cash-ups accurately within set procedures.
- Ensure daily takings are securely deposited into the Drop Safe or vault.
- Process transactions relating to other stores, deliveries, and quotes correctly.
Administration
- Sign, compile, and file all documentation related to the Cashier function.
Ready for Business
- Adhere to Ready for Business and Beyond My Control processes as per the Cashbuild Way.
Customer Service
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service when checking in and out Customer goods.
- Direct Customers to the appropriate personnel for assistance.
- Comply with company dress code at all times.
Safety (OHSA) Compliance
- Ensure the safety of Customers and staff within the area of responsibility.
- Report any safety concerns or discrepancies to the Store Manager.
Security Awareness
- Maintain system password controls at the till point.
- Ensure cash is safely kept and transported to the cash office following Cashbuild procedures.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or minimum 1 year relevant work experience.
- Strong communication skills in English and the dominant local language.
- Ability to perform basic calculations accurately.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and Public Holidays.
- Ability to work under pressure.
