Back Door Specialist – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Role
The Back Door Specialist is responsible for visiting assigned retail stores and distribution centres to ensure efficient back door operations, reduce operational failures, and support seamless stock flow. The role focuses on building strong working relationships with store teams, DCs, and Value Logistics operations while identifying, managing, and resolving back door–related challenges to improve turnaround times and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support and Relationship Management

Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with store back doors, distribution centres, and internal operational teams

Conduct on-site visits to each assigned back door at least once per month

Develop a thorough understanding of back door processes, including receiving, dispatch, and returns, to ensure compliance and operational efficiency

Maintain and update back door and DC requirements on a monthly basis
Issue Resolution and Performance Improvement

Provide hands-on support to back door teams by identifying operational challenges and coordinating resolutions with relevant Value Logistics operations

Ensure agreed actions are driven to completion within defined deadlines

Monitor, improve, and optimise back door turnaround times

Manage and support the smooth processing of bookings, escalating any potential risks that may delay offloading of Value Logistics vehicles

Implement and promote the use of technology and system integrations to enhance back door efficiency and process compliance

Drive initiatives and procedures aimed at minimising stock returns
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Logistics, Warehousing, or Supply Chain qualification advantageous
-
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in retail and distribution centre back door operations, including audits and resolving delayed offloading issues

Own reliable transport
