Job Summary

The Artisan Assistant provides essential support to the Instrumentation Department by assisting Mechanicians with maintenance, installation, and basic fault-finding activities to enhance plant reliability and availability. The role also supports the Instrumentation Foreperson with administrative responsibilities, including maintaining Quality and SHE files, while ensuring a safe, clean, and organised work environment.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role

Key Responsibilities

• Transport instrumentation tools and equipment, including loading and offloading at work sites
• Perform general cleaning, lubrication, and upkeep of tools, instruments, panels, and filed equipment
• Remove scrap and waste from work areas and dispose of it in designated containers
• Clean and wash departmental vehicles to maintain operational readiness
• Assist artisans with cable-related work, including tracing, pulling, trenching, and recovering unused or damaged cables for CCTV installation and maintenance
• Provide general assistance such as identifying tools, handling testing equipment, and supporting installation and maintenance tasks

Knowledge Requirements

• Basic understanding of instrumentation systems
• Fundamental knowledge of automation equipment maintenance

• Effective communication skills
• Strong housekeeping and workplace organisation abilities
