Role Purpose
The Regional Sales Manager – Engineering will be responsible for driving growth and profitability within the Division.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Relevant insurance qualifications (minimum 120 NQF credits, completed RE level 4)
- Postgraduate degree or diploma in Marketing, Management, Trade, Insurance, or Finance is advantageous
- At least 3 years of insurance experience, including sales and underwriting
- At least 1 year of claims experience
- Proven track record of driving growth and profitability in a similar role
- Ability to source new brokers and identify business opportunities
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
- Adaptability to change and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in analyzing business profitability and broker portfolios
- Conflict management and problem-solving skills
- Strong internal and external networking abilities
- Experience in motivating teams
- Bilingual proficiency is preferred
- Skilled in creating and delivering presentations to diverse audiences
- Advanced IT skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Proficiency in Tial with the ability to train brokers and staff
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide underwriting and rating guidance to underwriters
- Conduct product training in regional markets
- Offer technical support to regions and brokers
- Share technical updates on new products with the marketing team
- Perform underwriting and claims audits to ensure compliance with mandates
- Develop product summaries for online and printed materials
- Maintain product listings on Tial
- Draft, update, and enhance policy wordings
- Support regions in major renewals
- Address and correct underperforming portfolios
- Assist claims department with complex claims
- Collaborate with the reinsurance department on coverage solutions
- Communicate market trends to regional teams
- Contribute to product development initiatives
- Evaluate requests for new product approvals
- Verify quotes on Tial
- Foster strong broker relationships
- Monitor business growth and profitability
Competencies
- Strong understanding of the insurance industry
- Knowledge of insurance legislation and compliance
- Expertise in Division-specific products
- Experience in claims handling processes
- Familiarity with underwriting mandates, rates, and procedures
- Understanding of financials, treaties, and risk management practices
