Are you a strategic Market Risk Manager ready to lead a high-performing team and shape South Africa’s financial regulatory landscape? A leading financial regulatory authority is seeking an exceptional Market Risk Manager to oversee market and counter-party credit risk supervision across insurance, financial market infrastructures (FMIs), and cross-sectoral institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage market risk supervision strategies for financial institutions, ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
- Develop and refine risk models, supervisory frameworks, and regulatory policies.
- Collaborate with policy teams, internal stakeholders, and industry leaders on financial risk initiatives, including derivatives and margin requirements.
- Guide and mentor a team of Market Risk Specialists to drive excellence in risk oversight.
- Influence cross-sectoral financial stability projects and regulatory innovation.
Your Expertise:
- Post-graduate degree (NQF Level 8+) in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, or Insurance.
- 8–10 years of market risk, investment risk, or counter-party credit risk experience within financial services or regulation.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in managing technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of SAM, IOSCO, IAIS, FMA, and financial risk modeling.
- Exceptional analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- FRM, CFA, CQF, or MBA designation.
- Hands-on experience with model validation and quantitative supervision tools.
- Proven success in regulatory innovation and stakeholder management.
