Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an Assistant Store Manager Pool to support Store Managers in the daily operations of their Gauteng stores. This role is responsible for managing employees, achieving store targets, and maintaining inventory levels to meet customer demand. The Assistant Store Manager Pool will also prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing store information.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in all aspects of store operations
- Manage day-to-day human resource administration, including leave, work hours, and scheduling
- Oversee performance management and ensure adherence to personal development plans
- Ensure timely completion of orders and maintain accurate stock levels
- Manage stock flow to the sales floor and coordinate biannual stock takes with the Store Admin Manager
- Monitor and manage shrinkage
- Handle customer compliments and complaints efficiently
- Ensure merchandisers comply with Dis-Chem merchandising standards
- Plan, implement, and maintain promotional stock and displays
- Ensure labelling, pricing, and layout standards are followed
- Drive the achievement of all store objectives
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Retail/FMCG across all departments: Receiving, Administration, Cash Office, and Sales Floor Management
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role
- At least 2 years’ experience with Unisolv, SAP, or Qlikview
- Previous experience with Kronos
- Strong command of English
- Basic financial knowledge (GP, mark-up, VAT)
- Strong analytical, time management, and staff management skills
- Trustworthy and honest
Advantageous:
- Relevant retail/FMCG qualification
Competencies
- Store retail administration and management experience
- Effective interaction with suppliers, management, representatives, and staff
- Ability to manage, develop, and motivate subordinates
Special Conditions of Employment
- Willingness to work retail hours
- Local travel required – valid driver’s license and reliable transport
- South African citizen
