Site Supervisor – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Role
The Site Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising transport and fleet operations to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant delivery services. This role oversees driver management, vehicle readiness, route planning, dispatch activities, and adherence to operational procedures, including accident, product claim, and breakdown protocols, while maintaining high service standards for customers.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management

Supervise driver attendance, absenteeism, and availability to ensure optimal staffing levels on site

Coordinate driver requirements with labour brokers and regional management

Ensure accurate recording of driver hours for weekly wage reporting

Manage and control all fuel-related processes, including refuelling, fuel consumption tracking, card usage, and reconciliations

Ensure fleet condition complies with operational and safety standards

Coordinate daily route planning, vehicle loading and offloading, documentation handovers, and driver dispatch
-
Ensure compliance with procedures for accident claims, product claims, and vehicle breakdowns
-
Maintain effective communication with regional management regarding operational activities

Debrief driver trip sheets and verify data against vehicle tracking systems

Supervise pre- and post-trip inspections, logbooks, workshop bookings, and COF compliance

Manage ad hoc vehicle requirements as operational needs arise

Ensure all driver documentation is valid and current, including licences, PDPs, medical certificates, and specialist permits

Control the issuance and use of PPE and uniforms for all on-site staff

Ensure vehicle tracking systems are fully operational and coordinate repairs where required

Maintain high housekeeping standards and a clean, safe working environment

Conduct monthly vehicle panic button tests and tyre surveys

Ensure all deliveries align with front-end planning requirements

Confirm accurate trip ID allocation, route closure, and system updates daily

Verify that all loads are safe and secure prior to dispatch

Secure vehicle keys, fuel cards, and mobile devices at the end of each shift
Administration & Reporting

Compile, supervise, and submit daily, weekly, and management operational reports, including utilisation, absenteeism, fleet, fuel, tracking, and performance reports

Supervise the completion, handover, and sign-off of all customer-related documentation
Customer Service & Performance Management

Build and maintain strong customer relationships by consistently meeting service level requirements

Monitor and manage customer KPIs and service levels to ensure targets are achieved

Prepare and present customer KPI reports, operational feedback, and highlight any service constraints proactively
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience within a warehousing or logistics environment
