Job Description
The Senior Product Manager will oversee product strategy, roadmap execution, and lifecycle management, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market demands. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and mentor junior PMs to deliver innovative and customer-centric financial products.
Responsibilities
Develop and Implement Product Strategy
- Define and execute product strategies aligned with business goals and market demands
- Oversee creation and execution of comprehensive product roadmaps
- Identify and capitalise on emerging market opportunities to drive product innovation
Cross-Functional Team Leadership
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and marketing teams to deliver high-quality products
- Ensure compliance with legal and financial regulations across product initiatives
- Lead, coach, and mentor team members, supporting career development and high performance
Product Lifecycle Management
- Manage the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch and post-launch optimisation
- Make data-driven decisions to enhance product features and performance
- Lead product launches ensuring market readiness and alignment with business objectives
Stakeholder Management
- Engage senior leadership to communicate product vision, strategy, and performance
- Manage stakeholder expectations and foster strong relationships across the organisation
- Present product updates and strategic initiatives to executive teams and key stakeholders
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field, or certification in Product Management (e.g., Pragmatic Institute, AIPMM) or Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner)
- 5+ years of experience in product management, leading product development initiatives and cross-functional teams in Fintech
- 3+ years’ experience in financial services with proven banking or insurance product development experience
- Preferred: Fintech-specific certifications such as Certified FinTech Professional (CFP)
Technical Knowledge / Skills
- Extensive experience leading strategic product initiatives and managing complex product lifecycles in Fintech
- Deep understanding of South African market dynamics, customer behaviour, and competitive landscape
- Expertise in integrated Fintech ecosystems, APIs, Swagger, and managing complex projects
- Proven ability to drive product innovation, optimise performance, and align with business objectives
- Experience mentoring junior PMs and fostering continuous improvement and learning
Advantageous Knowledge & Experience
- Experience driving digital transformation and innovation within Fintech
- Knowledge of global Fintech trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory frameworks (POPIA, FSCA, FICA, RICA)
- Success managing complex stakeholder relationships and influencing executive-level decisions
- Familiarity with advanced financial technologies and product development applications
- Experience leading cross-functional teams through major product pivots, mergers, or acquisitions
