Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified and experienced Roaming Pharmacist to provide professional pharmaceutical services across assigned stores. The role is responsible for delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care, ensuring patient medicine-related needs are met, and maintaining full accountability in line with legislative and company requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Essential

Grade 12 / Matric
-
BPharm or equivalent qualification
-
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
-
Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical environment
-
2–3 years’ retail pharmacy experience, including student or intern exposure
-
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office
Advantageous

Retail or FMCG experience
-
Third additional language
-
SAP experience
-
E-scripting experience
-
Registered tutor status
-
Unisolv system experience
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide pharmaceutical care by evaluating patients’ medicine-related needs for safety, effectiveness, and appropriateness
-
Dispense medicines and scheduled substances in accordance with prescriptions and legislation
-
Check, verify, and sign off prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns, ensuring full compliance with GPP standards
-
Provide accurate information and professional advice on the use of medicines
-
Monitor patient compliance and conduct follow-ups to ensure therapeutic outcomes
-
Initiate pharmacist-led therapy where appropriate
-
Compound, prepare, package, and manufacture medicines or supervise these activities as required
-
Oversee the procurement, storage, distribution, and control of medicines and scheduled substances
-
Promote public health initiatives and support pharmaceutical research and development where applicable
-
Accurately interpret and capture prescription details while verifying patient information on the system
-
Ensure correct picking, packing, labelling, and checking of medication, with awareness of dosages and drug interactions
-
Provide clear usage instructions and counselling to patients
-
Stay updated with medical aid procedures, claims processes, and dispensing requirements
-
Assist and advise patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front shop
-
Follow up on script tracking reports and patient appointments as required

Explain medical aid costs and ensure transparency with patients
-
Process medical aid claims accurately and correct rejected scripts
-
Ensure authorisation of chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication
-
Maintain and manage customer profiles, including profile merging where required
-
Support the Dispensary Manager with administrative, stock control, and compliance functions
-
Monitor and report low or out-of-stock items and stock discrepancies
-
Facilitate bi-annual stock takes and maintain accurate stock, cash, and asset control
-
Ensure housekeeping, health and safety, uniform, and personal appearance standards are met

Adhere to all Dis-Chem policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols
