About the Role
The Learning Practitioner identifies learning needs, develops and delivers learning interventions, and facilitates assessments to enhance workforce capability. This role ensures alignment with legal requirements, Sasol’s global learning strategy, frameworks, policies, and guidelines, supporting the continuous development of employees across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify learning gaps by assessing current versus required skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct research to determine skill development requirements and target learner profiles.
  • Design, develop, or select appropriate learning methodologies in line with legislation and business needs.
  • Facilitate learning interventions through virtual and face-to-face methods, on-the-job training, and application projects.
  • Guide learners to competently apply skills in the workplace.
  • Conduct assessments according to unit standard requirements, including for learners with special needs.
  • Moderate and oversee assessment processes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Develop and implement evaluation methods, analyze performance data, and propose corrective actions to close learning gaps.
  • Monitor progress against learning plans, review outcomes, and submit reports on learning activities.
  • Develop and maintain learning metrics and dashboards.
  • Update and revise learning materials as required to ensure relevance and compliance.
  • Support line managers in evaluating competence, identifying gaps, and developing structured learning plans aligned to 70:20:10 principles.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to learners and line managers to optimize learning outcomes.
  • Ensure adherence to Sasol learning policies, frameworks, and legislation, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12.
  • NQF Level 4 – Chemical Occupational Trade Certificate.
  • Assessor Qualification required; National Certificate in Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development Practitioner (ODETDP) preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in learning and development.

  • Expertise in learning design, facilitation, evaluation, and digital learning integration.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and people advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage learning processes, projects, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to monitor metrics, assess performance, and implement improvements.
  • Action-oriented, accountable, and capable of managing complexity.
  • Knowledge of HR, L&D strategy, and business acumen.
  • Experience in both virtual and face-to-face learning facilitation, assessments, moderation, and quality assurance.
