About the Role

The IT Operations Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, and coordinating day-to-day Information Technology activities. This role ensures that IT systems, services, and infrastructure operate reliably and securely while providing leadership and guidance to the IT team.

Key Responsibilities

General IT Operations Management

• Direct IT technical personnel to support end users and manage IT upgrades and initiatives.
• Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and guides, including FAQs and employee handbooks.
• Ensure efficient, reliable, and secure IT operations across all systems and services.

IT Operations Monitoring

• Monitor servers, networks, computer systems, and data integration services for irregularities and performance issues.
• Ensure backup procedures are properly followed and maintained.

IT Operations Support

• Assess departmental needs and assign IT personnel to resolve help desk inquiries.
• Manage escalations from end users and third parties.
• Support system upgrades, data migration, and stability of IT infrastructure.
• Approve change requests and maintain data security.

IT Third-Party Management

• Oversee IT third-party services and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).

IT Capacity Planning and System Improvement

• Plan for IT system capacity and performance enhancements.
• Analyze system data, error logs, and user reports to identify improvement opportunities.

IT Reporting

• Prepare operational reports including weekly service updates, monthly reviews, trend analysis, root cause analysis, open call reviews, and ad-hoc management reports.

Requirements

• NQF 7 qualification with 3–5 years of relevant IT management experience.
• Practical and theoretical knowledge of IT systems, services, and infrastructure.
• Strong general management and leadership skills.
• Proven technical expertise in hardware, software, servers, and systems.
• Experience in process enhancement, policy implementation, and IT workflow optimization.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective problem-solving for software, hardware, and server-related issues.
