Job Overview
Cashbuild Vacancies is looking for a reliable and customer-focused General Assistant to support store operations. The role involves delivering excellent customer service, merchandising stock, maintaining accurate shelf pricing, and ensuring housekeeping and safety standards within the assigned area.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with 1 year related work experience, or Grade 12 without experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and the dominant local language
  • Valid South African ID or work permit
  • Basic numerical skills for accurate calculations
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure

Key Performance Areas

Customer Service

  • Advise and assist customers on products and store-related queries
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally
  • Maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for customers

Merchandising Standards

  • Merchandise bulk stock safely according to the store layout plan
  • Ensure the assigned area is fully stocked and aligns with planograms
  • Replenish stock immediately after deliveries

Housekeeping

  • Keep the area clean, organized, and free of obstacles
  • Ensure customers can move safely and comfortably within the aisles
  • Maintain correct and visible shelf price labelling
  • Complete checklists as required, including canteen and restroom schedules

Safety (OHSA) Compliance

  • Follow safety procedures and use appropriate safety gear
  • Ensure racking and bulk stock are safely merchandised for customers and colleagues
  • Report any safety issues or discrepancies to the Store Manager

Stock Loss Management

  • Identify and report damaged or defective stock to the Store Manager
  • Support efforts to minimize stock loss
