About the Program
Value Logistics ensures reliable fleet operations by maintaining forklifts and other vehicles through skilled repair, assembly, and component management in a safe and efficient workshop environment.
Purpose of the Job
The Forklift Technician is responsible for performing mechanical repairs, component stripping and assembly, cleaning of spare parts, and maintaining a clean and organised workstation. The role ensures forklifts are serviced to OE standards and remain operationally ready.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle and Component Maintenance
- Evaluate forklifts and vehicles for defects prior to repair
- Compile technical reports detailing the scope of repairs required
- List and manage spare parts needed for repairs
- Strip components from vehicles and assess parts for wear or damage
- Clean and prepare parts for reassembly using new and reused components
- Assemble components and repair systems according to OE specifications
- Record all tasks, parts used, and time taken on job cards
Operational Support
- Perform vehicle service and repairs according to OE schedules
- Respond to standby or breakdown duties after hours as required
- Monitor productivity and maintain efficiency standards
- Train and guide repair shop assistants and semi-skilled artisans
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Report unsafe working conditions or equipment to team leaders/workshop foremen
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintain professional conduct and comply with dress code requirements
- Keep workstations, tools, and workshop areas clean and organised
- Ensure Health and Safety standards are consistently maintained
General Duties
- Assist with relevant operational functions as required
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Red Seal Qualification
- 2+ years of related mechanical or forklift repair experience advantageous
