Job Overview
Dis-Chem Central Park, Century City is seeking a Casual Frontshop Assistant to support customer service at the point of sale while maintaining merchandising standards according to Dis-Chem policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all products are fully stocked on shelves and neatly presented

  • Monitor stock for expiry dates and restock as needed to maximize sales

  • Follow up on out-of-stock queries promptly

  • Organize delivered stock and storerooms, keeping areas tidy and orderly

  • Maintain accurate pricing, labels, and merchandise displays; report discrepancies

  • Assist with back shopping, restocking, and general stocktaking

  • Handle merchandise carefully to prevent losses

  • Process customer purchases including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and loyalty cards

  • Handle exchanges and returns as authorized by the Frontshop Leader

  • Place cash in drop safes and ensure all line voids or price changes are approved

  • Facilitate regular stock rotation and adhere to stock control procedures

  • Report low, damaged, or expired stock to management

  • Assist with loading and off-loading of stock when required

  • Provide professional, courteous, and helpful assistance to all customers

  • Report customer compliments and complaints to management

  • Adhere to customer turnover benchmarks and assist in training new team members

  • Maintain housekeeping standards according to Dis-Chem requirements

  • Follow all Health & Safety rules, SOPs, and uniform/personal appearance policies

  • Monitor and report suspicious behavior of staff or customers

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • 0–6 months retail experience

Advantageous

  • 1 year retail experience

  • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP)

Competencies

  • Knowledge of retail operations and administration

  • Strong problem-solving and customer service skills

  • Basic arithmetic and numerical accuracy

  • Effective verbal communication

  • Takes personal responsibility for quality and timeliness of work

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Willingness to work retail hours

  • South African citizen

  • Clear credit and criminal records (MIE)
