Job Description
As a Store Manager, your primary responsibility is to protect and grow the store’s market share in alignment with the store, division, and company strategies. You will be tasked with overseeing all store operations, managing staff, maintaining high standards, and ensuring a profitable, efficient, and customer-focused environment.
Requirements

Grade 12 with at least 3 years of relevant retail management experience, or 5 years of retail management experience.

Strong business acumen and the ability to work under pressure.

Basic computer literacy.

Proven leadership and administrative skills.

Own transport with a valid driver’s license preferred.

Own mobile phone.

Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations (OHSA) and relevant country legislation.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Management

Develop and execute the store’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the overall divisional strategy and objectives.
Market Share Growth

Drive sales, transactions, and market share in line with the store’s budget.

Meet sales targets and growth objectives.

Promote customer loyalty programs and third-party credit options.
-
Create strategies to protect the store’s market from competitor encroachment.

Regularly update and implement store business plans as required.
Customer Service

Lead the implementation and monitoring of the store’s customer service strategy.

Ensure that an effective delivery service is maintained as per company policy.

Grow and manage the VIC and charge card customer base.

Suggest improvements to the product range to meet market demands.
Asset Control
-
Manage and control shrinkage in the store in line with company policy.

Safeguard store assets including cash, stock, and fixed assets.

Oversee debtor management and recommend security improvements.
-
Ensure the physical security measures in the store are effectively maintained.
Business Trade Licenses

Ensure all necessary trade licenses are valid and renewed on time.
Human Resource Management

Align manpower with company and division strategy.

Implement succession planning and career development within the store.
-
Maintain open communication with the Store Employee Forum and staff.

Facilitate training and development opportunities for employees.

Effectively manage employee relations within the store.
Maintaining Store Standards
-
Conduct daily floor walks to ensure the store is up to company standards.

Ensure the implementation of action plans (PIP’s) when necessary.

Maintain compliance with company policies and standards.
-
Ensure the store’s cleanliness, merchandising, and overall readiness for business.

Monitor the condition of store lighting, racking, and fixtures.
Stock Management
-
Ensure stock is ordered and received in accordance with company policies.
-
Manage damaged stock and ensure it is cleared as per policy.
-
Implement strategies for obsolete or slow-moving stock.
-
Handle excess stock as per company guidelines.
Safety (OHSA) Standards
-
Oversee safety measures in compliance with local (OHSA) and neighboring country regulations.
-
Ensure that all required safety checklists are completed and safety representatives are appointed.

Investigate and manage safety incidents as per OHSA regulations.
Expense Management
-
Manage the store’s expenses according to the financial model and budget guidelines.
Insurance Claims Administration
-
Report all incidents to the relevant insurer and coordinate the claim process.

Submit required documentation to the insurer and follow up as needed.
