Main Purpose of the Role
The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing staff, clients, and operational deliverables at the branch, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. This role drives financial performance, profitability, service delivery, client retention, and operational excellence while maintaining a client-focused approach.
Job-Related Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 5 years’ managerial experience in logistics or courier operations
- Strong skills in sales, operations, HR, and IR
- Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot tables, charts, formulas)
- Comprehensive knowledge of P&L and financial management
- Understanding of LRA and BCEA regulations
- Effective communication skills for interaction with clients and colleagues at all levels
- Excellent time management and punctuality
- Strong administrative and daily planning capabilities
- Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment and technology
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines independently
- Flexibility to work beyond standard hours when required
- Own reliable transport and valid, unendorsed Code 8 driver’s license
- Budgeting skills, cost trend analysis, and forecasting capabilities

Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the branch’s objectives through staff communication, measurement, and motivation
- Collaborate with shared functions to ensure smooth cooperation
- Deliver on the branch’s Service Catalogue to clients
- Optimize cost and productivity to ensure operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with internal/external controls and global/local KPIs
- Achieve branch budget and bottom-line targets
- Identify business opportunities and risks impacting operational delivery
- Drive staff performance and growth to sustain business continuity
- Enforce deadlines and schedules
- Oversee resource management and risk mitigation
- Perform administrative duties relevant to the branch
- Maintain client interactions, in-person and telephonically
- Implement and improve systems, processes, and controls continuously
- Analyze and resolve client complaints, delivery failures, and damages
- Actively manage daily operational performance and achieve metric targets
- Ensure all vehicles (owned, leased, hired, or supplier-supplied) are compliant and roadworthy
- Drive company initiatives at the branch level
- Manage branch fleet operations, including maintenance, condition, and fuel efficiency
- Implement, monitor, and sustain Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental (QSHE) Management Systems
- Ensure all processes meet quality management, legal, and commercial requirements
- Oversee peak operational activities at the branch
- Ensure the use of financial management tools across branches or agents
- Validate branch forecasts for the month and year for accuracy
- Proactively manage P&L costs and investigate variances
- Prepare accurate budgets for the upcoming financial year based on local insights and guidelines
