Cashier – Cashbuild Vacancies

Job Purpose

The Cashier is responsible for accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions, ensuring that no goods leave the store without payment and delivering excellent customer service at all times.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or minimum of 1 year work-related experience

  • Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language

  • Strong numeric and basic calculation skills

  • Strong administration skills

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

  • Ability to work under pressure

Key Responsibilities

Cash Handling

  • Accurately manage all cash, floats, and petty cash with no discrepancies

  • Correctly identify goods and capture transactions on the POS terminal

  • Process payments accurately and ensure sufficient change is available

  • Ensure cash-ups are completed accurately at the end of each shift

  • Safely deposit daily takings into the drop safe or vault

  • Handle all transactions relating to other stores, deliveries, and quotes correctly

Administration

  • Compile, sign, and file all documentation related to the cashier function

Ready for Business

  • Adhere to Ready for Business and Beyond My Control processes as per the CB Way

Customer Service

  • Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all customers

  • Direct customers to the appropriate personnel when required

  • Maintain compliance with the company dress code

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  • Ensure safety of customers and staff within the area of responsibility

  • Report any discrepancies or incidents to the Store Manager

Security Awareness

  • Maintain security of cash and POS systems

  • Ensure adherence to password control and safe handling procedures

  • Safeguard cash transport to the cash office in line with the CB Way
