Introduction
As a Senior Buyer: Denim (Womenswear) at Woolworths, you will develop and execute a customer-led, profitable product strategy that aligns with our brand vision. Your leadership will drive product innovation, commercial success, and cross-functional collaboration with Planning, Design, and Sourcing teams to deliver trend-right denim collections that resonate with our customers.
Job Description
- Develop and execute a seasonal denim strategy aligned with business objectives and brand positioning.
- Lead range building, partnering with Design, Sourcing, and Planning to create commercially viable, trend-focused assortments.
- Utilize market insights, trend forecasting (e.g., WGSN, EDITED), and customer analytics to guide product decisions.
- Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle, ensuring quality, competitive pricing, and innovation in denim wear.
- Conduct trade analysis, optimizing sales, margin, and stock efficiency through data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Technical, and Visual Merchandising teams to ensure cohesive execution.
- Manage supplier relationships, costing negotiations, and adherence to the merchandise cycle.
- Mentor and develop Buying Assistants, fostering growth in skills and performance.
- Strengthen internal and external partnerships to drive business success.
Minimum Requirements
- 3-year diploma or degree in Fashion, Retail, or a related field.
- 6–8 years of buying experience in apparel, with 2+ years in a senior role (denim experience preferred).
- Deep understanding of fashion retail, with a strong commercial and analytical mindset.
- Proven ability to deliver customer-focused, profitable ranges that perform in market.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and team development skills.
- Expertise in product development, sourcing, and merchandising principles.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, PLM, and EDITED.
- Keen awareness of local and international denim trends.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate data into actionable plans.
- Knowledge of pricing strategies, retail math, and inventory management.
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally as needed.
