Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced Casual Cashier to join the Berea Pharmacy store. This role is responsible for delivering excellent customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a smooth and accurate checkout experience. The successful candidate will capture and process all transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system in line with company policies and standard operating procedures, maintaining strict accuracy and minimizing fraud risk.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• At least 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Strong numerical ability
• Good command of the English language
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
• Build and maintain professional customer relationships
• Report customer feedback, complaints, and compliments to supervisors or management
• Meet hourly customer service and transaction targets
• Stay updated on promotions and current sales
• Maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues
• Apply Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles
• Manage cash flow accurately and responsibly
• Ensure all voids and price changes are properly authorized
• Process merchandise exchanges and returns when approved
• Handle all payment methods including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
• Process loyalty and rewards programs for partner organizations
• Secure cash in the drop safe in accordance with company procedures
• Protect and regularly update system login credentials
• Ensure all items are scanned and paid for before leaving the store
• Keep all cash secure within the till at all times
• Handle daily takings with strict confidentiality
• Identify and report suspicious activity to management
• Assist customers with product-related queries
• Comply with all security policies and procedures
