Job Description
Spar Vacancies is seeking a proactive Accounts Receivable Controller to oversee credit control operations, manage outstanding accounts, and ensure strong relationships with retailers. The role focuses on supervising accounts receivable staff, resolving queries, and maintaining timely processing of financial transactions to support the company’s cash flow and financial accuracy.
The Accounts Receivable Controller will monitor account performance, handle escalated overdue accounts, and provide guidance and training to team members while reporting on outstanding debts and claims.
Key Performance Areas
• Resolve retailer queries promptly and efficiently
• Maintain excellent relationships with retailers
• Collect outstanding amounts on problematic overdue accounts
• Ensure journals and EFTs are processed accurately and on time
• Control and manage customer queries effectively
• Conduct account reviews and reassessments
• Handle allocations and reconciliations
• Recruit, train, and manage Accounts Receivable Clerks
• Monitor and evaluate staff performance
• Train team members on processes and best practices
• Report on overdue accounts, claims, and credit performance
Minimum Requirements
• Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
• Relevant tertiary qualification advantageous
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in credit control
• Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience advantageous
• Knowledge of legal aspects of credit control in FMCG advantageous
• Strong financial accounting and analytical skills
• Proficiency in Excel (intermediate) and MS Office; SAP experience advantageous
• Ability to resolve queries effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Team player with self-motivation and analytical capability
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required
