About the Role:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Dispensary Manager for their De Drift store. This role involves managing and supervising the dispensary, including self-medication areas and staff. You will ensure the provision of pharmaceutical care, taking full responsibility for patient-related needs and maintaining accountability for meeting these needs.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Registered tutor
- Experience with Unisolv
- Experience supervising staff
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills
- Proficiency in English and a second language
- Willingness to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- Previous management experience with at least 7 staff members
- Retail or FMCG experience
- Knowledge of a third additional language
- SAP experience
- E-scripting experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure dispensary and self-medication areas are adequately staffed and staff work within their scope of practice
- Maintain adherence to Good Pharmacy Practice rules and regulations
- Monitor stock for expiry and short-dated items; dispose of expired stock appropriately
- Investigate and manage negative stock daily
- Prepare and maintain stock for stocktake; follow stock ordering processes to achieve purchasing compliance
- Maintain stock levels and secure Schedule 6 medication with accurate register maintenance
- Ensure SAPC registration and annual fees are up to date
- Accurately interpret prescriptions within legal requirements and professional standards
- Capture and verify script and patient details accurately
- Oversee correct picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medications; advise on dosages and drug interactions
- Provide patients with accurate instructions for medication use
- Stay updated on medical aid procedures, claim requirements, and process paperwork for accurate submission
- Authorize chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medication
- Maintain and merge customer profiles as required; act on profile messages
- Train and supervise Dispensary Admin Assistants to manage dispensary administrative tasks

- Physically fit for long periods of standing
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport
