About the Role

The PACKAGING INVENTORY CLERK plays a critical role in maintaining accurate raw material inventory records, ensuring quality standards, and supporting operational excellence across packaging and supply chain functions. This role is responsible for enforcing VPO standards, driving strong governance, and enabling seamless inventory control through disciplined processes and systems compliance within AB InBev.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Ensure RM inventory quality fundamentals are adhered to in line with VPO requirements.
  • Accurately block quality-related and obsolete RM inventory in SAP, supported by physical blocking mechanisms in line with VPO standards.
  • Enforce freshness and stock rotation policies in accordance with VPO guidelines.
  • Record inventory counts accurately per storage location, including Best Before Dates per SKU, with bin cards clearly displayed.
  • Apply and manage inventory concession policies in line with product age standards.
  • Repack all RM salvages in accordance with VPO standards.
  • Decant obsolete stock in line with approved policies and procedures.
  • Process all received stock through GRN in accordance with standard procedures.
  • Conduct independent inventory counts, reconcile variances against SAP, investigate discrepancies, resolve and report findings, and escalate unresolved variances with action plans.
  • Capture all physical movements of RM inventory accurately in SAP, including validation of packaging receipts, verification of write-offs against approved documentation, and gate sheet controls.
  • Ensure breakages, obsolescence, and salvage stock are approved and processed correctly in SAP.
  • Review and resolve daily controls and open shipments.
  • Process claims timeously with approved supporting documentation and ensure reimbursements are completed.
  • Monitor supply chain overheads against budget, identify gaps, and report action plans.
  • Plan and manage daily workloads for the team.
  • Maintain daily documentation control and ensure strong governance practices.
  • Ensure weekly and monthly stock count compliance.
  • Monitor and control raw material handling and storage conditions.
  • Apply effective waste management practices, good housekeeping, and 5S principles.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage Permit to Work processes.
  • Perform HR and administrative duties as required.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support operational goals.
  • Support team objectives and VPO principles.
  • Perform daily stock reconciliations and weekly PRP compliance checks.
  • Ensure all inventory documentation is signed off, filed, and securely stored in line with Inventory Control Policy.
  • Monitor site security cameras at key control points and conduct random verification checks.
  • Perform three-point independent shipment checks at dispatch and receipt, with random audits to ensure compliance.

Profile

  • National Diploma in Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in a stock control or inventory environment.
  • Solid understanding of stock control processes and inventory governance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
  • Valid FLT license.
  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Clear verbal communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to perform in a pressurised, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong customer ethics and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to self-manage and take ownership of deliverables.
