Job Summary
The Coordinator Finance and Project Support is responsible for providing effective leadership, coordination, and operational support to the EMS Department across Administration, Finance, Asset Management, SAP, Maximo, and Procurement functions. The role ensures the successful planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of OPEX, CAPEX, R&R, special projects, supplementary budgets, periodic maintenance budgets, and movable assets in line with approved schedules, quality standards, and Rand Water policies and procedures.
This role oversees daily financial and administrative activities including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, charge-outs, invoicing, petty cash, procurement, and asset management. The incumbent will also support performance management by monitoring sectional KPIs, tracking performance, and providing accurate projections and reports.
Minimum Requirements
- BCom in Accountancy with 2–3 years relevant experience, or National Diploma in Finance and Accounting with 4 years relevant experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial project monitoring and reporting
- SAP Superuser status
- Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and business management capability
- Advanced computer literacy with strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Extensive experience using Maximo
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence (Code 8)
- Proven asset management experience
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, monitor, and report on annual budgets, including monthly and quarterly tracking, forecasts, and budget movements
- Manage all departmental budget activities including journals, charge-outs, petty cash, and related financial transactions
- Process and monitor all income-related transactions such as contracts, charge-outs, and sales activities
- Ensure accurate allocation and control of budgets and expenditure across all cost centres
- Provide financial support to capital projects, including project closure and asset capitalisation
- Act as SAP Superuser, monitoring finance-related transactions and supporting EMS staff with SAP queries
- Ensure accurate invoicing, receipting, and supporting documentation within required turnaround times
- Monitor, manage, and report on EMS assets at least bi-annually, including asset allocation and warranty tracking
- Ensure compliance with financial legislation, accounting standards, internal controls, and Rand Water policies and procedures
- Liaise regularly with Finance, SAP, Maximo, and Asset Management teams to ensure compliance and operational support
- Capture, manage, and maintain accurate financial and operational data and records
- Manage and support direct reports to achieve targets, KPIs, and departmental objectives
- Prepare and submit accurate reports, documentation, minutes, and transactional records timeously
- Track, analyse, and report financial KPIs for the Performance Management System
- Support internal and external audits by responding to audit queries and submitting required information and management responses
