Role Purpose
The Shop Assistant / Cashier is responsible for delivering efficient point-of-sale operations while providing excellent customer service. This role supports sales growth, promotes loyalty programmes, and ensures customers enjoy a positive and professional in-store experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute all point-of-sale operations accurately and efficiently, including scanning merchandise and processing payments.

  • Ensure safe and responsible handling of cash and transactional processes at all times.

  • Promote and enroll customers in the Clicks ClubCard to achieve participation targets.

  • Inform customers of current promotions to drive sales and enhance value for money.

  • Act as a brand ambassador by delivering friendly, visible, and professional customer service.

  • Maintain high standards of merchandising, shelf presentation, and general housekeeping in line with store standards.

  • Support the organisation’s vision by consistently living and promoting company values.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, ranges, promotions, and in-store events to assist customers effectively.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Basic mathematical and numeracy skills

  • Understanding of retail or FMCG environments, including merchandising and promotional principles

  • Knowledge of stock management procedures

  • Understanding of customer service excellence

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong planning and organising skills

  • Effective problem-solving abilities

  • High level of customer focus and service orientation

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Computer literacy and point-of-sale system familiarity

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
