Job Description
Truworths, South Africa’s leading fashion retailer, is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a professional with strong retail and contracts experience, responsible for ensuring that projects and store developments meet the company’s high standards while managing budgets, timelines and contractor relationships.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, manage and oversee project construction programmes

Prepare and manage project budgets efficiently

Ensure all stores are built to the Company’s quality standards

Liaise with developers and project teams to ensure premises meet agreed specifications

Survey proposed new sites and provide feedback on leasehold work requirements

Advise Divisions on major repairs and maintenance issues
-
Support the exportation of shopfitting elements from South Africa to other African countries
-
Collaborate with external energy consultants and internal store operations teams on energy conservation initiatives

Prepare reports for the Board and relevant committees regarding project progress and energy initiatives

Manage contractor relationships and sourcing of local materials and services for retail projects
Qualifications and Experience
-
Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in project management, quality surveying or contracts management

Experience working with contractors, retail projects, and shopfitting
-
Matric plus relevant tertiary qualifications

Experience managing projects on the ground in Africa, including sourcing local contractors and materials
-
Understanding of exporting and shipping shopfitting materials beyond South Africa

Knowledge of energy conservation practices in the retail environment
