Warehouse Supervisor – Value Logistics
Purpose of the Role
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and controlling the end-to-end picking function and inventory control within the warehouse. This role manages permanent and outsourced picking teams to ensure processes are followed consistently, productivity targets are met, and customer orders are picked accurately and dispatched on time. The position plays a critical role in driving efficiency, maintaining discipline, ensuring system-driven operations, and upholding safety, compliance, and productivity standards while supporting the wider warehouse team to deliver a reliable and cost-effective service.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations

Supervise, guide, and support permanent and outsourced picking staff

Maintain a disciplined, efficient, and controlled working environment

Conduct daily check-ins with staff on progress, productivity, and challenges

Ensure picking activities adhere to approved processes and warehouse standards

Confirm system-driven picking and correct stock selection from designated bays
-
Perform random accuracy checks on items and quantities
-
Ensure picking productivity targets are consistently achieved
-
Collaborate with warehouse planners to align picking with dispatch schedules
-
Prevent delays, additional transport costs, and customer service issues through timely completion of picking

Monitor picking equipment to ensure availability and functionality
-
Ensure all picking-related administrative processes are correctly followed

Compile daily reports on productivity, accuracy, delays, and operational challenges

Maintain accurate records of staff performance and process deviations
Warehouse Supervision & Leadership

Lead, train, and motivate picking teams
-
Enforce company policies, health and safety standards, and disciplinary procedures
-
Conduct regular team meetings, toolbox talks, and performance feedback sessions
-
Drive continuous improvement within the picking function
Reporting & Documentation

Prepare daily and weekly reports on productivity, accuracy, and inventory performance

Monitor and report on KPIs including order accuracy, picking timelines, and stock variances
-
Maintain accurate documentation for internal and external audit compliance
Health & Safety Compliance

Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements

Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions

Promote a safe, clean, and hazard-free warehouse environment
Housekeeping
-
Maintain high housekeeping standards across the warehouse
-
Ensure aisles, picking areas, and storage zones are free from obstructions and hazards
-
Enforce daily housekeeping schedules
-
Monitor hygiene, safety, and proper waste disposal practices
-
Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve cleanliness and safety risks
-
Ensure tools, equipment, and PPE are correctly stored and maintained
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred)
-
Proven picking experience in a warehouse environment
-
Previous supervisory or team leader experience

Knowledge of WMS, MS Office, and inventory control practices
