About the Program

Purpose of the Job
The Tyre & Mechanical Assistant is responsible for supporting mechanical repairs, vehicle services, and tyre maintenance. This role includes conducting tyre surveys with corrective actions, attending roadside breakdowns, and ensuring vehicles are cleaned before leaving the depot.

Key Responsibilities

General Tyre Duties

• Strip and fit tyres, maintaining correct pressures
• Conduct tyre surveys and replace worn or smooth tyres
• Complete tyre change slips and ensure wheel nuts are torqued correctly
• Maintain tyre stock and workshop/tyre bay tools
• Attend breakdowns on-site, addressing mechanical and tyre issues

Workshop Assistance Duties

• Assist with mechanical repairs, vehicle services, maintenance, and breakdowns
• Support all workshop-related functions
• Complete job card service schedules and parts listings as required
• Help control spare parts and tyre inventory
• Maintain housekeeping in the workshop, parts store, tyre bay, and washbay
• Support relevant operational functions as required

Washbay Duties

• Wash and clean vehicles to company standards
• Ensure adherence to company dress code and PPE requirements
• Maintain daily housekeeping and uphold Health and Safety standards

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Experience in mechanical and tyre work

Skills Required

• Apply basic Health and Safety procedures under supervision
• Identify hazards and follow instructions to manage them safely
