Trainee Bakery Manager
Pick n Pay Careers is looking for a motivated and customer-focused Trainee Bakery Manager to join our bakery team. This is a developmental role providing hands-on experience in all aspects of bakery operations, people management, and commercial performance, preparing the successful candidate to progress into a Bakery Manager position. The role focuses on optimising resources to maximise turnover, minimise shortages, and ensure consistent adherence to company standards, processes, and policies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Qualified Baker
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a bakery production environment
- Supervisory experience advantageous

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage resources efficiently to maximise turnover and minimise shortages
- Ensure adherence to company standards, processes, policies, and procedures
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, housekeeping, and safe working practices
- Ensure strict compliance with security procedures
- Deliver consistent product quality and service through bakery staff
- Plan, coordinate, and control daily, weekly, and monthly bakery production
- Order, control, and manage stock to support production and minimise waste
- Monitor and control departmental expenses according to standards
- Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time, including staff scheduling, leave management, pricing, and cost control
- Conduct quality checks to maintain product consistency and freshness
- Prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damages through effective controls
- Analyse and maintain relevant documentation, taking corrective action when necessary
- Engage proactively with customers, provide product advice, and meet customer needs
- Analyse departmental profitability and recommend or implement corrective actions
- Support and manage employees to ensure high standards and motivated staff
- Participate fully in all required training and development initiatives
