Senior Manager – Lead Account, MTN Careers
Mission
The Senior Manager – Lead Account is responsible for driving wholesale and commercial growth of Bayobab’s global fixed connectivity infrastructure within the MTN Group and external third-party carrier providers. The role ensures effective commercialization of MTN Group’s fixed-line assets, maximizes revenue in global markets, and maintains strategic client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance in the fixed connectivity wholesale environment, both internally and externally.
- Build and maintain a network of potential external clients while managing key account relationships across Bayobab Fibercos and MTN OpCos.
- Participate in negotiations and client engagements, escalating high-profile client issues where necessary.
- Drive sales of capacity and connectivity services to carriers, operators, and global digital providers, realizing defined wholesale sales strategies and targets.
- Collaborate with OpCos and Bayobab teams to identify excess capacity and develop wholesale products, including pricing and target planning.
- Monitor sales performance, identify gaps, and implement solutions to optimize revenue and service quality.
- Develop commercial propositions for network infrastructure and capacity in collaboration with wholesale and OpCo solution engineers.
- Analyze competitive and operator landscapes to maximize MTN Group backbone network utilization.
- Establish commercial processes, procedures, policy guidelines, and RACI frameworks for wholesale infrastructure opportunities.
- Cascade KPIs effectively within the sales business unit, managing geographically diverse teams for international connectivity and domestic wholesale.
- Mentor and motivate sales teams, promoting up/cross-sell opportunities and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Enhance Bayobab’s market reputation by representing the company at key industry events.
- Collaborate with Group Commercial Legal to manage NDAs, contracts, and commercial agreements related to MTN Group wholesale operations.
Role Deliverables
- Prepare sales and market performance reports for international and domestic wholesale services.
- Monitor and motivate teams to achieve sales targets.
- Provide input to budget and financial planning processes.
- Develop and execute wholesale sales strategies, including pipeline and accounting plans.
- Track and deliver on growth and sales targets for the wholesale business.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Commerce.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Commerce, or Business Administration is an advantage.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in French and Arabic is beneficial.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of sales experience, preferably in telecommunications, enterprise/carrier business, or fixed-line international markets.
- At least 3 years of managerial experience in sales or wholesale functions, ideally within telecommunications.

- Deep understanding of fixed connectivity infrastructure, commercial requirements, trends, and emerging market dynamics in Africa.
- Strong analytical skills for executing MTN GlobalConnect strategy and generating high-level reports.
- High proficiency in computer literacy and relevant software tools.
