Role Overview
The Clothing Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations, performance, and standards of the Clothing department within a Super/Hyper store. This role drives sales growth, ensures excellent customer service, and maintains compliance with Pick n Pay Clothing policies and values, while developing and motivating the team to achieve operational excellence.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
- 2–3 years’ supervisory or management experience in retail, preferably within clothing or fashion.
- Knowledge of visual merchandising (VM), promotions, and stock management processes.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and shrinkage targets.
- Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Profitability
- Deliver departmental sales and profit targets.
- Monitor daily sales reports with Area Manager support and implement corrective actions for underperforming categories.
- Identify opportunities for upselling and promotional execution.
Shrinkage & Security
- Implement shrink control processes, including fitting room monitoring, stock rotation, and damage control.
- Enforce security and loss prevention standards.
- Escalate shrink risks to Store Manager and Area Manager.
Merchandising & Standards
- Execute visual merchandising and promotional guidelines as directed by Pick n Pay Clothing.
- Maintain store floor, signage, and display standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of promotions and markdowns.
Stock Management
- Oversee delivery processes, GRV accuracy, and replenishment from backup.
- Manage stock rotation, ensuring correct size availability and seasonal relevance.
- Report stock issues and coordinate markdowns or returns.
Customer Service
- Ensure all customers receive excellent service.
- Handle escalated queries and complaints courteously and effectively.
- Lead by example in promoting a customer-centric, service-driven culture.
People Management
- Lead and motivate the Clothing department team.
- Allocate daily tasks and monitor execution.
- Conduct coaching, performance management, and basic disciplinary actions.
- Identify training needs and liaise with HR/Area Manager for development support.
- Provide feedback on scheduling, absenteeism, and staff performance to the Workforce Manager.
Promotions & Pricing
- Ensure pricing and labelling accuracy.
- Execute promotions and markdowns according to divisional standards.
- Provide product performance feedback to the Area Manager.
Compliance & Administration
- Maintain hygiene, housekeeping, and safe working standards in floor and backup areas.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly administrative tasks and reporting with Area Manager support.
- Ensure full compliance with store, legal, and divisional policies.
