General Assistant – Cashbuild Vacancies

Job Description
Deliver outstanding customer service in-store by assisting customers with product selection and inquiries. Responsible for merchandising stock, ensuring accurate shelf price labelling, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized store environment within your area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year of relevant work experience, or Grade 12 without experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and the main local language
  • Valid South African ID or work permit
  • Basic numeracy skills for accurate calculations
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure

Key Performance Areas

Customer Service

  • Advise and assist customers on products and queries
  • Resolve customer complaints professionally and promptly

Merchandising Standards

  • Merchandised bulk stock safely according to store layout and planograms
  • Ensure your area of responsibility is fully stocked and organized

Housekeeping

  • Keep aisles clear and safe for customers
  • Merchandised stock immediately after receipt
  • Ensure accurate shelf price labelling
  • Complete checklists for canteen and toilet/shower schedules

Safety (OHSA) Compliance

  • Follow safety protocols to protect staff and customers
  • Ensure racking and bulk stock areas are safe and accessible
  • Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager

Stock Loss Management

  • Report damaged or missing stock to the Store Manager
