General Assistant – Cashbuild Vacancies

Job Description
Provide excellent customer service in-store, assisting customers with product selection and queries. Responsible for merchandising stock, accurate shelf price labelling, and maintaining a clean and safe store environment within your designated area.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 or NQF 3 with 1 year of relevant work experience, or Grade 12 without experience
  • Effective communication in English and the main local language
  • Valid South African ID or work permit
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure

Key Performance Areas

Customer Service

  • Assist customers with product guidance and resolve queries
  • Handle and resolve customer complaints professionally

Merchandising Standards

  • Merchandised bulk stock safely according to store layout and planograms
  • Ensure your area of responsibility is fully stocked and organized

Housekeeping

  • Keep aisles clear and safe for customers
  • Merchandised stock immediately upon receipt
  • Maintain accurate shelf price labelling
  • Complete checklists for canteen and toilet/shower schedules

Safety (OHSA) Compliance

  • Follow safety protocols to ensure staff and customer safety
  • Ensure safe merchandising in racking and bulk areas
  • Report any safety or stock discrepancies to the Store Manager

Stock Loss Management

  • Report damaged or missing stock to the Store Manager
