Forklift Driver – Cashbuild Vacancies
Job Description
The Forklift Driver is responsible for operating and maintaining the forklift safely and efficiently while providing excellent customer service in the store. The role supports merchandising, shelf price labelling, and housekeeping within the designated area of responsibility to ensure a safe and customer-friendly environment.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 or a minimum of 1 year relevant work experience

Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
-
Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
-
Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
-
Ability to work effectively under pressure
-
Physically fit to operate a forklift
-
Valid forklift operator licence
Key Performance Areas
Customer Service
-
Greet and acknowledge all customers and identify their needs
-
Provide accurate product advice and respond to product-related queries
-
Assist with customer complaints promptly and professionally
-
Promote add-on sales such as complementary products
-
Ensure customer purchases are loaded efficiently without delays
-
Load goods carefully to prevent damage to products or customer vehicles
-
Inform customers about additional services including delivery, bulk deposits, glass cutting, plan reading, credit programmes, special orders, trusses, distant ordering, and the VIC customer programme

Maintain up-to-date product knowledge certification

Remain available within the assigned aisle at all times
Merchandising Standards

Merchandise bulk stock safely according to the store layout plan

Ensure the assigned area is fully merchandised in line with approved layouts and planograms
-
Maintain merchandising standards to support sales and safety
Housekeeping
-
Keep the area of responsibility clear of obstacles and hazards
-
Ensure stock is merchandised immediately after receipt
-
Maintain correct shelf price labelling within the assigned area
-
Complete all required checklists, including canteen and ablution schedules

Loss Prevention and Security

Identify display gaps, investigate causes, and report concerns to management

Remain alert to suspicious behaviour and report concerns promptly

Ensure no products are loaded without valid proof of purchase or required documentation
Safety (OHSA)

Operate the forklift safely without overloading
-
Ensure racking and shelving are not overloaded in line with safety limits
-
Wear required safety equipment, including helmet and kidney belt, at all times
-
Never use the forklift to lift personnel
-
Keep entrances and exits clear to ensure safe customer movement
-
Report forklift faults immediately and ensure timely servicing
-
Wear protective clothing when required
-
Do not operate the forklift if mechanical faults are present
-
Conduct daily forklift inspections, complete checklists, and report defects
