Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Casual Merchandiser for their Berea Pharmacy store. The successful candidate will ensure that Dis-Chem merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained while delivering excellent customer service.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Up to 6 months retail experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:
- At least 1 year retail experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Restock merchandise to maximize sales and ensure shelves are fully stocked.
- Store delivered or pulled stock correctly and promptly.
- Check that stock on shelves is within sell-by dates and rotate stock regularly (FIFO).
- Report low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged or expired stock to management.
- Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.
- Adhere to Dis-Chem operating standards, store layout, and planograms.
- Flatten boxes after unpacking and place in the designated area.
- Maintain neat and visible product displays with correct pricing and labels.
- Report price discrepancies and keep updated on current and new products.
- Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays.
- Maintain the physical upkeep of store and merchandise displays; manage designated stock in storeroom and shop floor.
- Assist with loading and off-loading of stock and back shopping.
- Ensure items without barcodes are clearly marked.
- Assist in training new staff members.
- Provide courteous, helpful assistance and advice to all customers.
- Follow up on out-of-stock queries and resolve all customer stock enquiries.
- Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times.
- Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses.
- Follow all Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety regulations.

- Bilingual
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry
- Product and category knowledge
- Ability to analyse ZMORE reports for ordering and stock management
- Report suspicious behaviour involving staff or customers
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Willing and able to work retail hours
- Physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes, following health and safety standards
- Reliable transport or reside close to the store
- South African citizen
- Clear credit and criminal records
