Dischem Vacancies – Casual Merchandiser

Job Description:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Casual Merchandiser for their Castle Gate location. This role ensures that basic Dis-Chem merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained while providing excellent customer service.

Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Up to 6 months of retail experience
• Computer literate – MS Office
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Advantageous:

• At least 1 year of retail experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales
• Store and pack delivered stock/stock pulled from the storeroom in the correct space timeously
• Ensure stock on shelves has not reached its sell-by date
• Maintain the full range of products on the shelves at all times
• Facilitate regular rotation of stock on a FIFO (First In, First Out) basis
• Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management
• Assist with counting stock files and general stocktaking
• Adhere to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, store layout, and planograms
• Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and take them to the designated area
• Ensure front shop shelves and products are neatly presented and visible at all times, with correct labels and pricing
• Report all price discrepancies to management
• Stay updated on current and new products
• Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays
• Maintain daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise displays
• Be responsible for your designated stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor
• Assist with loading and off-loading of stock
• Ensure items without barcodes are clearly marked
• Assist with back shopping
• Assist in training new staff
• Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to all customers
• Follow up on all out-of-stock queries from customers with the customer service out-of-stock list
• Resolve all customer stock queries
• Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times
• Minimize losses by handling all merchandise carefully
• Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety rules and regulations

• Bilingual
• Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry
• Product and category knowledge
• Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking
• Report bad/suspicious behavior relating to both staff and customers

Special Conditions of Employment:

• Willing and able to work retail hours
• Physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes, adhering to health and safety standards
• Reliable transport and/or reside in close proximity to the store
